Navigate through our interactive timeline to learn more about the College’s namesake, Henry Flagler, and how a hotel became a college.

Education

Flagler College offers an exceptional education through a challenging, inclusive, and supportive academic community integrated with the thriving culture and history of this unique place, St. Augustine. We foster intellectual, social, and personal transformation in our students. We prepare them for a diverse world that will always need discerning individuals, responsible citizens, and visionary leaders. The College is committed to the preservation of the former Hotel Ponce de Leon and other historic structures that grace its campus.

Research

For the second year in a row, Flagler College students took home the Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award at an April psychology conference held at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Research across all disciplines has been conducted for many years at Flagler, but the college’s newly formed Office of Undergraduate Research is hoping to take it even further.

Welcoming FLCC community

Absolutely love Finger Lakes Community College. It is a small but welcoming campus with plenty of resources and constant activities and events on and off campus (if you're willing to make time). The social scene is dependent on whether or not you make the effort to participate. Lovely people. If you aim to do well in your classes, you will find plenty of opportunities for jobs outside of FLCC through its connections. All of my professors have personally been wonderful, and really make it clear their goal is to help me in succeeding. Treat your time here like college, and you'll find you get much more than just what you pay for. Utilize the resources they offer! The staff are here to help in preparing you for the world outside of college, not just your time at the college itself.

FLCC new media gem

Best college I've been to, easily. There's a lot to come out for and everything is easily accessible. I was hoping that the course I chose would be right for me, considering past issues I've had with the wrong course at a different university. I had just moved from Australia to the US to attend Finger Lakes so I was banking on it working out for me. It ended up working out perfectly for me. The New Media course is absolutely perfect and is a wonderful addition to the curriculum. It includes everything to do with technology and communication that you could need for the future - including computer classes, digital media/design, film classes, etc. I'm excited to continue attending and seeing what's there for me and will continue to do so. Professors here have been nothing but wonderful and caring. They don't hover and helicopter you, but they do genuinely care about their students and do everything they can to help when asked. I love all my professors!

Good Professors, Lack of Practicality

The small class sizes are good and I did feel like every professor knew me by a first-name basis. My program, Digital Media Production, however, did lack some of the real-world practicality I was seeking. Equipment was sparse, and other students didn't take things very seriously. The course load mostly consisted of lecture-heavy classes and fewer courses that required you to get out into the field and make stuff.
