The TU Ilmenau looks back on a long tradition in the training of engineers. It began on 3 November 1894 with the opening of the private educational institution Thüringisches Technikum, founded by Eduard Jentzen, where engineers in electrical and mechanical engineering were trained.


TU Ilmenau is offering all stages of academic education:

  • Undergraduate studies: Bachelor of Science/of Arts
  • Postgraduate studies: Master of Science
  • PhD program

In 2012, TU Ilmenau was the first technical university in Germany to receive the nationwide seal of approval for system accreditation. On July 10, 2020, TU Ilmenau was again awarded the seal of approval of the "System Accredited" foundation.
