Mid-South School of Fine Arts was incorporated as a Tennessee non-profit educational corporation by charter recorded April 9, 1936 in the office of the Tennessee Secretary of State. On July 3, 1936, the name was changed to The Memphis Academy of Arts, and on February 15, 1985, the name was changed to Memphis College of Art.
At the core of the College are its rigorous academic programs. Whether studying at the undergraduate or graduate level, each student is guided through the intellectual and technical aspects of art making and discourse. To provide the best experience for learning, small classes (typical studio class size is 12–15) are prepared and offered by a faculty of artists and scholars, all dedicated to the personal growth and development of each student.
Any member of the Memphis College of Art community who receives a complaint from a member of the general public about MCA, its faculty, staff or students should advise that person to submit his or her complaint in writing to the Assistant to the President. The Assistant will receive any written complaint from the general public and direct it to the appropriate resolution.
