In the Civil War era Malcolm MacVicar, the principal, was a visionary educator who saw the need for better education for teachers in New York and he led a campaign to get the state to establish a system of "Normal" schools across the state. The effort was a success, and in 1867 the Brockport Collegiate Institute became one of the new Normal schools.

Our campus housing includes 12 residence halls, with suite- and corridor-style options, as well as a townhome complex. You can choose a living learning community with other students who share your interests.
Housed in Drake Memorial Library, the Rose Archives tells the story of the college from its inception as a private "academy" in 1835 to the present day.
The materials held include annual reports, brochures, catalogs, committee reports, correspondence, faculty biographical information, minutes of meetings, newsletters, photographs, student registers and much more.
Computer Lounge: Also located on the lower level of the Seymour College Union, the computer lounge allows you access to the Internet and Microsoft Office programs. The computer lounge can only be accessed by students who have completed an Access Form.
