About

History

On February 26, 2014, Purdue University announced a plan to unify the administration of the university’s two northwest Indiana campuses, Purdue Calumet and Purdue North Central. On July 18, 2014, the Purdue Board of Trustees approved Purdue University Northwest as the name of the unified Hammond and Westville campuses.

Purdue Northwest’s research activities advance the university as well as the community through economic development, student, faculty and staff engagement and outreach activities. We offer intellectual and technological resources to solve business problems and attract new industry. We shape regional economic development through world class research institutes and centers. Keeping academic excellence as a core value of the university, we offer opportunities for students to get involved in research through their classes, independent projects or by working with faculty.

Student Life

Campus life

We develop, operate and maintain the physical environment and provide services which enhance and support Purdue University Northwest’s commitment to student success, community engagement, a quality learning environment, and faculty and staff excellence. The Building & Grounds Advisory Group consists of staff and faculty members, charged with the responsibility for making recommendations regarding maintenance, housekeeping, major capital repairs, as well as enhancements to campus landscape and outdoor spaces.

Sports facilities

The Purdue University Northwest Pride athletic program features 13 varsity athletic programs that proudly compete in in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference of NCAA Division II.
