History
Stonehill College was founded on June 30, 1948. On that day, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts authorized the Congregation of Holy Cross to establish an institution of higher learning on the former estate of Frederick Lothrop Ames in North Easton.
Education
Stonehill offers more than 80 academic programs that provide a firm foundation in business, the sciences and the humanities. If you come to Stonehill without having chosen a major, you'll receive plenty of guidance and support to help you through the process.
Research
Like Directed Study, Independent Research is an opportunity for students to expand on Stonehill’s curriculum. A student who wants to do his or her own self-directed research, with helpful guidance from a faculty member when needed, generally pursues an Independent Research project. Student-led and –designed, these projects earn academic credit, can last a semester or more, and often help students to define their post-graduate interests and future goals.
Career
One of the best ways to network with hiring organizations is to come to one of our many events held throughout the year. Our annual Job & Internship Expo, held every February, draws over 60 companies with opportunities for all majors.

Student services
The Office of Academic Achievement is responsible for the coordination and delivery of all academic resources to Stonehill students to insure their academic success across the continuum of ability and achievement. The Office of Academic Development serves the faculty and staff of the College in helping to obtain external funding for scholarly research, academic program and curriculum development and community service projects.
Housing services
More than 90 percent of students live on campus in a variety of residential settings. Our students quickly form a close community in an environment where, with the help and guidance of Residence Life staff, individual needs and desires are balanced with the common good. Over their four years, Stonehill students have the opportunity to choose from traditional corridor-style residence halls, suites and townhouses. Recreation areas, lounges, kitchens and free laundry complete an experience that helps each student feel right at home.
Library services
The MacPháidín Library is the main library for the campus and is open to all Stonehill College students, faculty and employees.
ICT services
The library's public access computers are provided for the use of Stonehill College's students, faculty and staff.
Medical services
Health Services provides confidential, quality, accessible healthcare for Stonehill students. We want to help students maintain their health so that they can invest their time and energy into their education. The medical staff in Health Services consists of nurse practitioners, a physician assistant, and a collaborating physician.
Campus life
The Massachusetts college campus is strikingly beautiful. At one end sits Donahue Hall, the estate’s original Georgian-style mansion, constructed in 1905. It houses Stonehill’s administration as well as a chapel in which mass is celebrated daily. Donahue Hall overlooks a panorama of academic buildings and residence halls in a tranquil setting of lawns, woods, fields and ponds.
Sports facilities
Stonehill student-athletes are challenged and championed on the playing field and in the classroom. Here, success truly is more than a win-loss record. It’s about working hard and developing attitude, drive and skills that are vital in sports and in life.
Student clubs
With more than 70 student organizations to choose from, it’s not a matter of which club will you join, but how many. There’s so much to do on campus that students often participate in multiple activities, building leadership skills, interests and friendships that last a lifetime.
Accreditation
Stonehill is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
