History
Since our founding in 1794, Bowdoin has undergone a lot of changes. But there a few threads that tie together everyone who has walked this quad: a commitment to the common good, a rigorous intellectual life, and memories that last a lifetime.
Education
A modern liberal arts education takes whatever you're passionate about—history, medicine, music, law, neuroscience, engineering, poetry, teaching, biology—and helps you understand how it will impact the world around you.
Research
With over 200 Bowdoin students engaging in faculty-mentored research each year, Bowdoin is one of the most active research institutions among liberal arts colleges today.
Students find that immersing themselves in a particular research question gives them a chance to personalize their undergraduate experience, and it often serves as a springboard for independent study and honors projects.
Fellowships also lead to students coauthoring papers with their faculty mentors, or presenting their findings at professional meetings—experiences that are invaluable for those students considering graduate study.
Career
The Bowdoin community of alumni, employers, and family and friends is stepping up in extraordinary ways.
Career Exploration and Development and thousands of Polar Bear alums are here to support you virtually—no matter where you are in your college career, or where you are in the world.

 My Bowen experience
It feels both emotional and illuminating to reflect on my journey as a final-year student in Bowen University's Mass Communication department, currently in my last semester. I wasn't the friendliest person when I was first admitted. I liked to keep to myself and remain in my comfort zone. However, I quickly realized that remaining reserved wouldn't work for long after I started studying mass communication. There is a lot of interaction in the course. I was forced to adjust to the numerous group projects, frequent presentations in class, and public speaking engagements. I progressively gained confidence as a result, particularly in speaking in front of an audience and interacting with others. This self-assurance improved not only my academic performance but also my interpersonal relationships at home and in other spheres of my life. Nevertheless, there were difficulties along the way in my academic career. I had to humble myself and seek assistance from my classmates in certain particularly challenging media-related courses. This experience taught me the value of community and support in the learning process in addition to teamwork. Now, regarding Bowen University itself, I would say that I have mixed feelings. There have been ups and downs, and while the school has its share of annoying rules that can be frustrating at times, when I look at it from a different perspective, I can see how those rules were put in place to instill discipline and help us become more responsible people. Would I recommend Bowen to someone else? Yes, especially to those who are searching for a school that emphasizes character development in addition to academics.
A Dream Come True
I loved everything about Bowen University. It is my dream school. I love how excellence and godliness is our esteemed watchword although tongues may differ, we stand in Christ and in brotherhood. Although classes were quite stressful and it was hard balancing somethings, I learnt multitasking, competency, stress management and so much more. Our lecturers genuinely care about us both academically and physically and they're always looking for ways to ensure that we're not less of what we're to be.

Campus life
Bowdoin College is located in Brunswick, Maine, a town of approximately 20,000 people, first settled in 1628, on the banks of the Androscoggin River, a few miles from the shores of Casco Bay. The 207-acre main campus is organized around a central quadrangle.
If we start from the center and move outward: our campus is the place where we feel inspired, challenged, safe, and welcome. Intentionally small, and woven together by paths and pines, you can get from one side to the other in under ten minutes of walking.
Sports facilities
Bowdoin Polar Bears compete in thirty-one varsity sports, but the fierce competition doesn't end there. Intramurals and club sports help students stay active, build teamwork, and meet new friends... or rivals?
Some students join these teams because they bring experience from home, but teams of all skill levels ensure that you're encouraged to try something new, like rugby, equestrian competition, cycling, volleyball, or Ultimate Frisbee. Our coastal Maine location presents unique seasonal and outdoor opportunities like alpine skiing, rowing, and curling.
Student clubs
More than 100 different groups sponsor extra- and cocurricular activities for students, faculty, staff, and community members. Together, these organizations broaden and enrich your time at Bowdoin by providing social, cultural, and educational experiences outside the classroom.
Accreditation
Bowdoin College is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education.
