History
Founded in 1895 as the Montgomery Preparatory School, WVU Tech has a rich history of academic excellence. WVU Tech is located in Beckley, West Virginia.
Education
WVU Tech consists of two academic colleges: the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences and the Leonard C. Nelson College of Engineering and Sciences. The University offers more than 30 academic programs, including 9 ABET-accredited engineering programs. With an average class size of 17 students, our classes provide students with personalized attention in a supportive environment.

Campus life
WVU Tech offers a vibrant student life experience. With more than 40 student organizations, intramural sports, on and off-campus entertainment and access to some of the nation’s best outdoor recreation, WVU Tech students are part of a rich, active college community. A variety of campus services, housing options, dining services and student success programs (Student Success Center and TRIO Student Support Services) are available to on-campus and commuter students alike.
Sports facilities
The campus gymnasium features a full basketball court, volleyball courts, locker rooms and plenty of space for indoor athletics at both the varsity and intramural levels.
Accreditation
As a division of West Virginia University, WVU Tech is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. Several academic programs, including engineering, engineering technology and nursing, hold specialized accreditation.
