About

History

Victoria University achieved university status in 1991, but our preceding institutions date back to 1916. We are one of Australia’s few dual-sector universities. Today, we have over 40,000 enrolled higher education, and vocational education and training students studying on our campuses.

Education

At Victoria University we are taking the national agenda for STEM education forwards, by working to provide students and teachers with:

  • mathematical and statistical understanding and skills that are necessary for STEM
  • qualified teachers of STEM subjects at all levels, especially primary and early years
  • alignment with industry needs, including understanding new job opportunities in data management
  • entrepreneurs who can translate scientific knowledge into businesses that create future jobs in the globally changing economy.

Research

Within innovation and research VU has:

  • developed new mathematics teacher learning in schools and the STEM agenda
  • the Early Learning STEM Australia project cataloguing STEM Apps on iPads for very young children (Department of Education, Skills and Employment, Government of Australia, Canberra) (contact Professor Nicola Yelland).

Sports facilities

  • The College of Sport & Exercise Science's $68 million high-technology teaching and research facility at Footscray Park. The facility is designed with multiple integrated spaces to facilitate interdisciplinary teaching, research, and engagement in the key areas of sport and exercise science.
  • The 29 new labs are fitted with the latest technology and equipment. They support world-renowned research undertaken by the Institute for Health & Sport, and are used by professional sports team and community organisations.

I had great time as an undergraduate at my university and still I am experiencing it. I got new knowledge, experiences by interacting with my colleagues as well as well educated and experienced lecturers. Communicating with them make me more updated and It will be very helpful to me in my future studies as well as in my career.

All of my courses are online, I am expecting the university especially through its Flexible Distance Learning (PTAFE) to allow us access the tutorials from other campuses of USP PTAFE, but was not possible. Here in USP Solomon Islands campus student are not allowed to spend night at campus due to COVID 19 PROTOCALS. having no laptop really a concern. The services are not...
