About
History
Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is the only public university of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Multilingual, international and research-oriented, it is also a modern institution with a personal atmosphere.
Education
- 14 bachelor degrees, 42 master degrees and doctoral education based on the Bologna Accords
- 16 vocational training and lifelong learning training courses
- Bachelor students have to spend one semester abroad
- Multilingualism: programmes generally taught in two languages French/English or French/German, some in three and some entirely taught in English
- Academic staff originates from 20 different countries
- 6,423 students originating from 125 different countries
Research
A major goal of public research in Luxembourg is to position the country as a knowledge-based society.The national strategy is to foster innovation that will drive sustainable socio-economic development and further diversify the economy by developing new and strengthening existing high added-value economic and social activities. The University of Luxembourg supports this strategy through its commitment to:

BiblioLab is opening its doors . You — students, academics, staff and citizens from Luxembourg and neighbouring countries as well — are all invited to discover a new space located on level -1 in the "Maison des Sciences Humaines" in Belval. All users on the Belval site will find their library collections there and are encouraged to try out our new services.

Student Life
Campus life
Luxembourg is redefining itself: from a steel region to a financial centre, the country now wants to morph onwards and become a research hub. In Belval there are plans to turn this vision into reality.
Belval is considered to be one of the largest and most ambitious current urban renewal projects in Europe. On the 120 hectares of grounds that once housed Luxembourg's largest steel foundry, academic research and teaching, work and leisure, industry and commerce and home life and culture are to enter into a thriving mixture. Based on a master plan created by Jo Coenen Architects of Maastricht, the development corporation Agora as well as the public Fonds Belval are bringing this new site into being.

Accreditation
Five Master programmes at the University of Luxembourg’s Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance have been accredited by the Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), an international expert for quality assurance and development in higher education and research.
The FIBAA accreditation is the first study programmes certification at the University of Luxembourg and represents an important step in receiving international recognition for the University’s programmes and a seal of approval for high-quality teaching.

The university is wonderful, it has an incredible infrastructure, but I believe it can improve it by allowing students more practical classes, experience in laboratories and use of more software that can really be used in the job market. I also believe that many professors could improve their teaching material because they are often in other languages and theoretically...
A multicultural experience

I loved the multicultural environment, with people from all over the world, and the many possibilities given to students by the University of Luxembourg. I guess that some of the courses could be improved, but overall I would really recommend the Master course in Civil Engineering there.

The course gives an excellent experience and learning into the field of Social Sciences and Educational Science. Subjects give a base for further research studies. The professors are extremely knowledgeable and approachable. The course pattern has a new type of approach different from what I have learned in the past. More subject options can be integrated into the course...
