  • Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is the only public university of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
  • Multilingual, international and research-oriented, it is also a modern institution with a personal atmosphere.


Three faculties, two interdisciplinary centres

  • The Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication (FSTC)
  • The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF)
  • The Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education (FLSHASE)
  • The Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT)
  • The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB)
  • 11 bachelor degrees, 39 master degrees and 7 doctoral schools based on the Bologna Accords
  • 13 vocational training and lifelong learning training courses
  • Bachelor students have to spend one semester abroad
  • Multilingualism: programmes generally taught in two languages French/English or French/German, some in three and some entirely taught in English

    Student Life

    Campus life

    Luxembourg is redefining itself: from a steel region to a financial centre, the country now wants to morph onwards and become a research hub. In Belval there are plans to turn this vision into reality.

    Belval is considered to be one of the largest and most ambitious current urban renewal projects in Europe. On the 120 hectares of grounds that once housed Luxembourg's largest steel foundry, academic research and teaching, work and leisure, industry and commerce and home life and culture are to enter into a thriving mixture. Based on a master plan created by Jo Coenen Architects of Maastricht, the development corporation Agora as well as the public Fonds Belval are bringing this new site into being.

    To be part of a student association and student life in general is paramount to experiencing a positive University experience. This type of engagement is essential to taking full advantage of the "University Experience".

    This positive experience can provide students with the following opportunities: helping to network with other young professionals, development into well-rounded individuals, and showcase a student's abilities gained from their academic studies.

    The university is wonderful, it has an incredible infrastructure, but I believe it can improve it by allowing students more practical classes, experience in laboratories and use of more software that can really be used in the job market. I also believe that many professors could improve their teaching material because they are often in other languages ​​and theoretically...

    I loved the multicultural environment, with people from all over the world, and the many possibilities given to students by the University of Luxembourg. I guess that some of the courses could be improved, but overall I would really recommend the Master course in Civil Engineering there.

    The course gives an excellent experience and learning into the field of Social Sciences and Educational Science. Subjects give a base for further research studies. The professors are extremely knowledgeable and approachable. The course pattern has a new type of approach different from what I have learned in the past. More subject options can be integrated into the course...
