CBS was founded in 1993 as a pure business school and is characterised by a wide range of English-language study programmes. It was amongst the first universities in Germany to offer the internationally recognized Bachelor’s degree.
Today the portfolio comprises English and German language Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes with a focus on management as well as MBA and Executive MBA programmes. The excellent study conditions are based on small learning groups and intensive supervision by the professors and lecturers.
The task of every university is to impart academic knowledge and to conduct and disseminate academic research. The professors at Cologne Business School are involved in both national and international research projects and publish their results in academic journals and books. Research activities CBS are organised into seven clusters. The "Sustainable Management" research cluster has a central function of linking research and teaching at Cologne Business School. Sustainable Management is the interdisciplinary area that interrelates with the diverse research activities and results of the other clusters. The research activities of CBS are supported by the CBS Series of Publications and the Working Paper Series.

But experience shows that planning is the key to success. We support you along the way – on the one hand through the contents of the courses but also outside the lectures.
Our colleagues support you in coming up with career ideas and then steering your career in the right direction – right from the start. To this end, we network with companies and have a CBS-exclusive internship and job vacancies exchange.
Our Students Office is the first and central contact point for all questions regarding your studies at CBS. The Students Office is responsible for handing out student IDs, certificates of study, equipment of all kinds and much more. You can consult the Students Office in case your address or contact information has changed or if you simply want to reserve a seminar room for group work. Additionally the CBS Students Office handles different official forms and requests, manages student files and updates the internal database. Additionally, they handle the matriculation process and finalize Letters of Recommendation.
The Cologe Business School operates an own student residence with fully equipped double and single rooms in close to the popular “Südstadt” neighbourhood of Cologne, surrounded by an abundance of cool shops, cafés and bars. The house offers you ideal accommodation while you are a visiting student at the CBS.
The 1 and 2-bed rooms are bright, friendly and well equipped. Each room is furnished with a bed, closet, desk, storage rack, lamps, beddings and private safes.
Cologne Business School library houses a large stock of specialist literature for the degree courses and in-depth studies. Moreover, you can access some forty German and international newspapers and periodicals (for example Wirtschaftswoche, Emprendedores or The Economist).

Student life is more than merely lectures, exams and homework. Eating and drinking, culture and sports, student initiatives and general educational projects are also included. The Cologne Business School students enjoy a wide range of offers: With its U2B- and CI team or campus radio exists as initiatives “by and for students”.
The relaxed campus, the modern business lounge and also the close-by Volksgarten [park] entice you to be active and do something with your fellow students, also after lecture time.
All our university students can participate in the extensive "Kölner Hochschulsport" programme. Whether aikido, self-defence, yoga, flamenco dance, back training, water sports or winter sports, more than 100 courses of the widest range of disciplines should ensure that everybody can find something fitting.
