Overview
The program provides a framework of conceptual, technical and professional knowledge that will assist students in developing expertise needed to examine and understand many aspects of the tax structure. Through an integrated curriculum with emphasis on tax concepts, substantive knowledge of federal and state taxation, tax research, communication skills, and tax planning. Students in the Taxation program of The University of Akron will develop an ability to identify and solve tax problems.
MTax Program Highlights
- Complete the MTax degree in 21 months by attending classes one evening per week throughout most of the program, or in as little as 15 months in the online MTax Direct program. Classes start at 5:20 p.m. and end by 10:50 p.m.. An entrance exam (GMAT) is not required for practicing CPAs or for attorneys with at least two years of experience.
- Curriculum includes 24 credits of required taxation courses and 6 credits of taxation electives.
