Programme overview
The research Master's programme in Philosophy focuses on the training required to pursue a career in academic philosophy. You will gain the logic and reasoning skills needed to create well formulated arguments. You will also gain experience designing, conducting and presenting your research. General requirements
- A completed Bachelor's degree in Philosophy or in a related discipline (in the latter case, students must have acquired at least 60 EC in Philosophical disciplines. The applicant must have a degree with merit or distinction or equivalent. Meaning: a student’s weighted grade-point average in Philosophy in the 2nd and 3rd year of their Bachelor's/Master's programme must be the equivalent of 7.5 or more (on the Dutch scale of 10).
- A proficiency in English
- Highly motivated. The applicant must be able to demonstrate to the Examination Board that they have serious research interests and skills. Applicant must write a motivation letter and send a writing sample which can help evaluate their research and writing skills.

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.

We have a number of scholarships available only for international Master’s students. You can find the full list, including details about eligibility requirements and how to apply, on the university's website
- Please do note, that most of these scholarships are not fully funded. The Radboud Scholarship Programme (RSP) is the only scholarship that offers both fully and partially funded scholarships.
