Overview
The Master’s in Molecular Sciences invites you to explore the architecture, behaviour and synthesis of molecules across chemistry, biology and the life sciences. You’ll choose a specialisation—whether it’s discovering how molecules function in living systems (Chemistry of Life), designing new drug molecules (Medicinal Chemistry), creating novel molecular materials (Molecular Chemistry), probing molecular properties with advanced instrumentation (Physical Chemistry), or taking a broader view on science’s role in society (Science in Society / Science, Management & Innovation). The programme combines rigorous theoretical coursework with immersive research internships, offering state-of-the-art laboratories and interdisciplinary projects that prepare you for careers in academia, industry or interdisciplinary innovation.
Thinking of getting a teaching qualification?
Are you interested in obtaining your first-degree teaching qualification in chemistry, while also broadening and deepening your subject knowledge? The (Dutch-only) Two-year Educational Master's in Chemistry combines chemistry subjects, didactics and internships, which trains you to become a teacher for secondary or higher education.
Pre-Master's
Students who'd like to study MSc Molecular Sciences but who lack a (small) part of the admissions criteria might be eligible for a (customised) pre-Master’s in English. This pre-Master's programme is specifically designed to bridge the gap between your prior education and our Master's programme. The content of the programme consists of specific courses from our Bachelor's programme in Chemistry or Molecular Life Sciences and depends on the specialisation that you would like to pursue.
Accreditation
This programme is accredited by the NVAO (the Dutch-Flemish accreditation organisation).
