The English (Literary Studies) programme at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is intended for those who have had some exposure to the study of literature written in English and who have a strong interest to attain deeper understanding of the English language and of the intellectual and artistic traditions of English-speaking cultures.

General requirements
- Applicants should normally possess a good honours degree and display strong interest in literary studies and a good command of English.
- Applicants must submit: a 500-word statement about their interests and goals related to postgraduate study in English literature, and a short writing sample (1,000 – 1,500 words), preferably a scholarly essay written on a topic related to literature.
- Applicants will be shortlisted to an interview. The interview aims to assess the applicants’ linguistic and intellectual abilities.
