Today’s daily life would not be possible without electrical engineering. It solves challenges in every aspect of our daily lives from energy supply and communications to health care and the environment. 

The department of Electrical Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) tackles these challenges through nine research groups, each with its own specific knowledge and research focus. The research within Electrical Engineering is more broadly categorized within three core themes: 

  • The Connected World: the future of communication 
  • Care and Cure: electrical engineering in healthcare 
  • Smart & Sustainable Society: handling energy in a sustainable way


Finding a job is not a problem for our alumni. They typically start their careers in research or product development at a high-tech company. As the program is taught in English, our alumni can also easily find jobs at companies or universities abroad. 

Moreover, the broad understanding and systematic way of thinking you gain from the Master’s program of Electrical Engineering opens up opportunities in other fields as well.

Programme Structure

Core and specialization courses

  • Core courses are intended to acquire a certain level of abstract and model thinking. 
  • They include courses in mathematics, physics and electrical engineering. 
  • Specialization courses are in-depth courses from a specific research group preparing you a specific area in Electrical Engineering.

TOEFL admission requirements TOEFL® IBT The TOEFL iBT® is given online through the internet at designated testing site. The test measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. IELTS admission requirements IELTS The International English Language Test System (IELTS) tests your English-language proficiency on a scale of 1 – 9. The score refers to the combined average score of 4 subjects (writing, listening, speaking, and reading).

  • A bachelor in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Specific knowledge, experience and understanding resulting in actual ECTS in the relevant domain-specific discipline(s) of Electrical Engineering at the level of a Bachelor of Science.
