This Computer Science umbrella programme at University of Southampton allows you to choose modules from our more specialist programmes in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Signal Processing, Software Engineering, and Web Science and Technology. In semester one, you can cover the foundations of a number of these specialist areas, and for your other taught subjects you can choose specialist modules to deepen your understanding of one or more of these areas.

You’ll need a First class degree in either computer science or software engineering, or a closely related subject.

You must also have an upper 2:1 score in the following modules:

  • 2 modern object-oriented or functional programming language modules (e.g. Java, C++, C#, Visual Basic)

  • 2 computing modules (e.g. cryptography, software, data structures, databases, artificial intelligence, machine learning, web, networks, operating systems)
