Overview
Philosophers of economics identify and critically evaluate the implicit assumptions that economists make when doing economics. These can be theoretical, methodological or ethical assumptions.
The first of its kind, the Research Master in Philosophy and Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam remains one of the few programmes in the world that focuses especially on philosophy of economics, and that offers a comprehensive overview of the field. The Keuzegids rated this programme as one of the best research master programmes in philosophy and among the Top-22 of all master programmes in the Netherlands.
Career opportunities after graduation
When graduating from the Research Master you will be well-prepared for a subsequent PhD in philosophy and economics, as well as advisory positions in the private and public sector. Many of the students that have come through our Research Master are now academics who lead the field, after securing places on the most prestigious PhD programmes in the Netherlands (e.g. Erasmus University), the United Kingdom (e.g. Cambridge), and North America (e.g. Toronto). Other students go on to excel in the private or public sector (e.g. the European Central Bank).
