Are you looking to deepen your understanding of neurodiversity and make a real difference in your workplace or educational setting? This Neurodiversity at Bath Spa University is designed for educators and other professionals who want to develop advanced knowledge and skills to effectively support neurodivergent people and drive neurodiversity affirming practice in many settings.

Throughout the course, you’ll connect theory to practice to build a strong grounding in key policy and legal frameworks. Gain a detailed understanding of specific neurodivergences including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, DCD/Dyspraxia and DLD.

Complete the course with the skills to lead on neuroaffirmative practice and the resources to share that learning with colleagues, and study entirely online in twilight sessions designed to fit around the demands of full-time work.

How will you be taught

Sessions take place in online twilight sessions. Materials are made available two weeks before each session to allow you to prepare alongside full-time commitments.

Sessions combine tutor-led content, group discussions, break-out activities, assignment preparation and planning, and some asynchronous activities.

Programme Structure

Courses include:

Neurodiversity, Critical Autism Studies, and Social Justice
You’ll develop a theoretical framework for understanding neurodiversity and critical autism studies, alongside the relevant policy and legal context for how education and business respond to the rights of neurodivergent individuals.
Developing Neuroaffirmative Cultures in Educational and Work Environments
You’ll develop a detailed understanding of a range of neurodivergences such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, DLD, DCD/Dyspraxia, Autism and ADHD, with options to specialise in areas most relevant to your work.
