If you are a psychology graduate, undertake an additional year of study to get registered as a provisional psychologist.

This honours year equivalent in psychology is useful for both those pursuing a career as a psychologist, and those preparing for postgraduate study.

During the Graduate Diploma of Psychology from Deakin University equivalent year, students who have previously completed a relevant undergraduate degree learn a range of psychological assessment methods, plus get an understanding of the process of formulating psychological opinion in casework. The research and analytical skills you develop in your fourth year will strengthen the quality of your research projects, and become indispensable tools in your future career.

    C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

Academic Requirements

  • Applications are invited from graduates holding a degree with an approved three-year sequence in psychology or Deakin University’s Graduate Diploma of Psychological Science or equivalent.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of a mid-credit (65%) in Research Methods B or equivalent unit, and will be ranked for selection on the basis of their level-2 and level-3 Psychology core units (including Research Methods B).
