Overview
The Creative Translation programme offered by University of Oxford aims to give you a scholarly grounding in the theories, methodologies and history of the subject and the space to develop hands-on skills in the practice of translation itself. On completion of the course, it is expected that you will have:
- acquired a thorough understanding of theories and methodologies of literature and creative translation studies;
- developed an understanding of the opportunities and challenges in working transnationally and comparatively within Translation Studies;
- acquired specialist knowledge and understanding of at least two topics within the fields of Translation, including a range of different cultural forms;
- developed greater intellectual flexibility in drawing constructively on approaches and material from different languages and from different historical periods;
- acquired an introduction to the professional world of translation in the UK; and
- completed a substantial piece of translation

General requirements
- A first-class or strong upper second-class undergraduate degree with honours in science or mathematics.
- However, entrance is expected to be very competitive and it is anticipated that most successful applicants will have a first-class degree or the equivalent.
- Most candidates have a master's degree or the equivalent.
- For applicants with a degree from the USA, the minimum overall GPA that is normally required to meet the undergraduate-level requirement is 3.5 out of 4.0. However, it is anticipated that most successful applicants will have a GPA of 3.7.
