Overview
This Public Policy program from University of Sharjah aims at preparing professionals who can design, develop, implement, analyze, and evaluate effective public policies for society.
Program Objectives:
- To enable students to adapt, formulate, design, analyze, and execute, public policies across a range of domains.
- To enable students to craft and advance public policy expert opinion that is capable of reaching and influencing key academic, governmental, civil society, and private stakeholders.
- To equip students with advanced knowledge and skills from which to pursue doctoral programs in Public Policy and/or vocational careers relating to Public Policy in the government, non-governmental, and private sectors.
- To equip students with the analytical and evaluation skills needed to accompany the public policy making process in the UAE and beyond across the full public policy cycle to improve and sustain the success and quality of government, economy, ecology, and society.
What You Will Learn
• Upon the successful completion of this program, the graduate will:• Demonstrate comprehensive, state-of-the-art, and cutting-edge knowledge in the field and discipline of Public Policy, including frontier concepts and recent developments.• Exhibit advanced skills required in research, analysis, evaluation and innovation of complex ideas, information, concepts and activities pertaining to Public Policy and the Common Good.• Exhibit advanced problem-solving skills to analyze highly complex Public Policy issues based on evidence and data and develop innovative solutions and implementable instruments.• Be able to account for high level governance conundrums and challenges of Public Policy processes and systems, and be able to analyze and reflect on sociocultural norms and relationships and act to build and transform them.• Demonstrate the ability to self-evaluate, critically reflect and take responsibility for contributing to Public Policy knowledge and practical solutions while consistently managing highly complex ethical issues leading to informed, fair and valid decisions.Programme Structure

General requirements
- The student must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized university with a CGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00.
- Students with a CGPA between 2.5 and 2.99 may be admitted conditionally.
- The degree must be in a major that qualifies the student to study the master's program.
- Students must meet the English language proficiency requirement.
- Attachment of ‘no objection of study certificate’ from the authorities responsible for national service for male Emirati students (ages from 18 to 30 years old).
- Attachment of a letter of study approval from the Kuwait Embassy Cultural Office for Kuwaiti students only.
- Attachment of People of Determination card (if applicable).
- In case the student works in a certain place, please attach a letter from the employer stating that the student is working for this agency.
- For individuals with foreign qualifications, it is necessary to provide a Certificate of Equivalency.
