Overview
The Urban Design and Development course at Thammasat University aims to develop urban experts who are knowledgeable in sustainable urban design and development, and who are committed to creating inclusive, innovative, resilient, and livable cities for the well-being of urban communities, leaving no one and no place behind.
Objectives of the course
This programme is for those pursuing a graduate degree from Thailand as well as international students particularly from South-East Asia and beyond. The programme is located in Thammasat University Rangsit campus, looking from megacities to intermediary cities and peri-urbanization. Through a revised curriculum consisting of taught courses and independent research subjects, combined with international exchange activities with international partners, students will work towards a comprehensive, interdisciplinary, and integrated research project in an area of their own choosing.
This programme welcomes students from architecture and design related built environment backgrounds, as well as those from non-architecture and design related backgrounds, including sociology and social sciences, geography, engineering, business and liberal arts, as well as global studies. Those coming from non-architecture and design related backgrounds should have as a minimum, one year work experience in their respective fields.
Graduates of this programme can make an impact as urban experts and professionals to address the issues of today and turn them into solutions for tomorrow, thereby shaping the future of their cities. With an international mindset graduates will be able to work in an international environment. The career paths in urban design and development range in various fields. They can become entrepreneurs that tackle urban problems, urban analysts for real estate, or urban designers within the private sector. This programme is also for government workers who wish to advance their career with advanced urban and policy knowledge and expertise, as well as non-governmental organizations which will need urban experts who are research-oriented, can help drive urban policies and promote effective urban governance within the region, and who can speak both the local language and English.

- Applicant must make sure that all qualifications, specified in the announcement, are met.
- If any qualification issue is found later, the applicant shall be disqualified and no longer be admitted to the Programme.
- In the case of disqualification, application fee, paid earlier, shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
- After the application process, if the number of successful applicants is too small, the Faculty reserves the right to consider canceling the Programme for that particular academic year.
- Application fee shall be refunded to the applicants if that is the case.
