Overview
The Fashion Curation programme from Istituto Europeo Di Design (IED) offers students a conceptual journey in which Art and Fashion meet, eliminating traditional boundaries and fostering a creative, stimulating, and interdisciplinary dialogue.
The Fashion Curation prepares professionals in an ever-changing sector, where fashion is no longer limited to clothing, but as an all-round artistic expression. In the context of fashion, art curators are responsible for conceiving, organising and managing exhibitions as well as installations that tell the story of fashion. They explore social and cultural topics through clothing and accessories and promote emerging designers.
Methodology
The Fashion Curation of IED Firenze and IED Milano trains curators that will be capable of transforming a simple product, dress or accessory into a complex cultural event, working on events, reinterpretation of spaces and publications.
Students will be guided through an interdisciplinary approach in exploring the multiple aspects of fashion as an artistic and social phenomenon. The programme aims to explore aesthetic, social, and psychological themes, stimulating critical reflection and the search for new perspectives.
Students will be encouraged to explore the role of fashion in the development of individual and collective identity. They will analyse its impact on gender dynamics, consumption and sustainability.
