Overview
Those completing the Food Technology programme from University of Algarve can integrate research and development (R&D) institutions/departments, food company’s technical staff or work at intermediate/senior management level in the food industry.
The acquired skills will enable them to carry out activities associated with e.g. the processing and analysis of food and (alcoholic) beverages, research and development of new food products and processes, food safety and quality, assessment and mitigation of environmental impact of the food industry, traceability and authenticity of food products.

General requirements
- Holders of a higher education degree in the areas of Food Engineering, Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, Agronomy, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition or similar scientific areas, obtained in agreement with the principles of the Bologna Process.
- Holders of a foreign academic degree: a) attributed in a first cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a signatory state to this process; b) recognized as fulfilling the objectives of a degree by the Scientific Councils or Technical-Scientific Councils.
- When justified, holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum vitae that is recognized by the Scientific Councils or Technical-Scientific Council as attesting the capacity to carry out this study cycle.
