This Biomedical Sciences by Research programme at University of Southampton is for Biological sciences and Biomedical Sciences graduates who want to enhance their skills and knowledge before committing to a PhD or a wide variety of careers such as academia, industry, policy, or science journalism.

You’ll work within a vibrant research community that harnesses the University’s expertise in translational science. The outstanding clinical infrastructure and enterprise enable the translation of a pioneering research for patient benefit

You'll study a variety of different modules and complete two research projects which will focus on one of the following research areas:

infection and immunity

nutrition and metabolism

respiratory medicine

stem cells and regenerative medicine

Graduates commonly work in a range of organisations or sectors including: Research institutes, universities, Biotechnology companies, Science journalism, Bioscience research either within our outside of academia, and are highly competitive applicants for a PhD.
