Overview
The Sport Performance and Analysis MSc programme aims to build upon your current knowledge, understanding and practical experiences of training and coaching environments. It will equip you with leading-edge academic knowledge, along with key practical and research skills, to become a critically reflective practitioner who is prepared for a career in high-performance sport.
On this Masters course, you will study how we need to adopt a holistic approach to high-performance professional practice. One that not only has an emphasis on technical and tactical improvement, but importantly involves understanding individual, collective and organisational goals, developing and maintaining productive relationships, and constructively influencing a range of key stakeholders. The focus of the curriculum will be:
- How we analyse and support competition preparation, execution, co-ordinate and contribute to high-quality training environments
- How we continually develop ourselves and mobilise others
- How we enact ethical practice and protect the welfare of people empowered to achieve their potential
Career
Throughout each semester, you will develop a critical understanding of relevant theoretical and vocational issues, with an emphasis on building a synergetic relationship between theory and practice. This will provide a basis for entry into further professional development within the sport industry, as well as doctoral study.
This development of this programme has been guided by our world-leading and internationally excellent research as well as the key professional competencies outlined for elite performance support by UK Coaching.
A key feature of our Sport Performance and Analysis MSc is its opportunities for volunteering within the University's sports department. A focus on professional skills and vocational practice throughout this course will help improve your employability by gaining hands-on experience.
You will have the opportunity to benefit from the department’s links with internal and external partners, giving you the chance to experience authentic learning opportunities.
