The Masters of Public Health (MPH) programme at University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg has been designed to prepare graduates to be leaders in the field of public health and provide them with the skills and knowledge to identify and address local, national, regional and international public health issues.
Overview
The MPH Health Economics field of study will cover topics in economic evaluation and micro-economics as applied to health. Graduates of the MPH field of Health Economics will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to: undertake health economic evaluation applicable to the sub-Saharan African context; apply economic approaches to inform policy decisions on the efficient allocation of scarce resources and provide technical advice to policy-makers on the use of economic policy levers to modify health behaviours.
