Throughout the program, students engaged in a research internship in direct collaboration with the surrounding community, aiming to address societal challenges and find sustainable solutions. In addition to equipping students with relevant theoretical and practical skills, the Work Integrated Political Studies MA programme from University West provides valuable work experience and professional networks that enhance their employability. Upon completion, students earn a master's degree in arts, focusing on work-integrated learning, specialising in Political Studies.

This degree also opens the door to doctoral studies in various social science fields, including the Ph.D. program in Work Integrated Learning at West University.

Career opportunities:

The entire programme is built upon a WIL approach and provides a degree in WIL. This becomes perhaps most prominent in the 2nd year when the student conducts a research internship, integrated with reflective course, and concluded in a master’s thesis. The research internship placements are secured through a close formal collaboration with a number of local, national and international hosts, enabling the students to choose a placement and field of research of their interest.
