The practical way you learn
The content, course tasks and assessments draw on contemporary research in international education. Opportunities to strengthen and hone research and academic writing skills are embedded in all courses, including on-going individual support by an experienced mentor, and culminating in a final summative assessment. This assessment allows students to identify and connect educational queries on classroom and/or school level through a critical investigation of the professional workplace in conjunction with a theoretical analysis on the topic of interest.

General requirements
Academic
- To be admitted to one of our master’s programmes, you will need to meet the admission requirements as outlined in Dutch Higher Education law. For an international Master’s programme at NHL Stenden you will need a relevant bachelor’s degree that is at is at least equivalent to an NLQF 6/EQF 6 level (Dutch/European Qualifications Framework).
Language
All non-EU/EEA applicants are required to submit an English proficiency test with their application to show that their English language skills are at a high enough level to succeed in their studies.
NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences accepts the following official language tests:
- Academic IELTS 6.0 (with an advised minimum of 5.0 for each skill)
- TOEFL iBT (with a minimum score of 80)
- Cambridge ESOL score First FCE-B (scale 173-175) or First FCE-Grade C (scale 169-172)
- TOEIC 865 (Listening and Reading) and 335 (Speaking and Writing)
- Pearson PTE Academic (minimum score of 61)

Funding

NL Scholarship
The NL Scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. These scholarships award selected international undergraduate students from outside the EU/EEA with a one-time financial contribution of € 5000.
NHL Stenden Excellency Scholarship
The NHL Stenden Excellency Scholarship is a performance-based scholarship for 1st and 2nd year non-EU/EEA students at NHL Stenden.
