Overview

You will master state-of-the-art techniques to developing theories and gain insight into the most important research issues in the neurosciences.

The skills you obtain will enable you to conduct neurobiological research and to critically assess the results. You will also specialise in one of the subjects within the field of neurobiology. At the end of your study, you will understand the significance of neurobiology within the context of brain research, and some of its clinical implications.

The Biomedical Sciences - Neurobiology programme from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam as part of the Master's programme Biomedical Sciences allows a maximum number of 10 students to be enrolled.

A minimum of 24 ECTS in molecular biology and a minimum of 24 ECTS in human biology, including at least one dedicated course in:
Cell biology
Biochemistry
Genetics
Immunology
Microbiology
Statistics
And preferably
(Human) anatomy and physiology

Histology and pathology
Applicants who wish to follow the specialization Neurobiology must, in addition to the requirements above, also meet the following requirements with regard to: knowledge and understanding (at least one dedicated course or internship) in Neuroscience.

Research laboratory skills
A high level of relevant knowledge and skills, demonstrated by an average mark of at least 7.0 for relevant courses of the Bachelor’s degree programme, excluding internships/projects.
