Overview
The degree programme is designed for students who want to gain advanced knowledge in a specialized field of computer science, focusing primarily on artificial intelligence, neural networks, data analysis, processing and data management. Students will gain both deeper theoretical foundations (mathematical principles of artificial intelligence and data analysis) and practical skills necessary for practice (laboratory work and internships).
Cooperation with the commercial sphere, particularly with regional partners (BOSCH, Engel, BMW, and others), is integral to the programme. The cooperation provides our students with options of locations for the compulsory internship and/or work on diploma theses. On top of that, both universities are equipped with state-of-the-art AI laboratories to support the degree programme.
Graduate Profile
Graduates of the programme acquire specific knowledge, skills and competencies in specialized areas of applied informatics – artificial intelligence (machine learning methods, analysis and prediction) and data sciences (data mining, data analysis, large volume data processing, i.e. big data).

Programme Structure
The base foundation of the joint degree programme lies in the requirement to spend (in-person) at least ONE semester at the partner university. We recommend doing so within the first two semesters, but students may choose whether they spend the summer semester @THD and winter semester @USB or vice-versa. The last two semesters are split between the obligatory internship and work on the master’s thesis. We recommend choosing a thesis supervisor as soon as possible and based on the supervisor's home institution spending the remaining two semesters in that particular country.
Courses included in the degree programme are divided into the four main building blocks and module groups:
- Artificial Intelligence
- Data Science
- Internship
- Master’s Thesis
