Overview
Working with internationally recognised scholars and artists in a research-led university environment, students will have the opportunity to develop the analytical, critical, and creative skills for advanced music research.
The Music Studies programme from The University of Hong Kong includes courses in historical musicology, music composition, ethnomusicology, and music theory, as well as more specialised areas, such as Chinese music studies and popular music studies. Students will be able to tailor their course selections to suit their individual interests and goals.
Degree requirements
The programme is a full-time, one-year course of study. Students will take three courses in each semester (6 courses total). All students will be required to take MUSI7101 Music Research: Skills and Methodologies, which will be offered in Semester 1 (Fall). All other courses are elective. Students will also be required to complete the Capstone Experience course, for which students will pursue an individual research or creative project under the guidance of an advisor.Programme Structure
