Overview
The graduate of Technical Chemistry at Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava:
- has knowledge in the field of asymmetric synthesis and stereochemistry, organometallic compounds and metal complexes, bioorganic, bioinorganic, biophysical and bioanalytical chemistry, chemical bond theory, colloid chemistry, chemical thermodynamics and kinetics
- has basic knowledge in the fields of artificial intelligence in chemistry, symbolic programming in chemistry, chemical information systems and computer chemistry
- understands material and energy balances of chemical and food technology processes and masters chemical-engineering calculations
- can assess quantitatively and qualitatively, resp. the relationship between the structure and reactivity of organic and inorganic compounds
- can control the quality of the environment, the enantiomeric purity of tested new drugs and the presence of toxic substances in food
- has knowledge of the causal relationship between the chemical structure of a substance and its biological activity
- can mathematically describe the kinetics of chemical reactions, heat transfer and energy transfer
- can apply basic statistical methods to data management and parameter estimation
- masters the basics of technical and professional English
- masters the basics of economics and business management
- has other specific knowledge in one of the fields of physical, analytical, organic or inorganic chemistry.
Employability of graduates
The graduate of the Technical Chemistry study programme has the competence to work as an independent worker in specialized chemical, biochemical and monitoring laboratories, in the chemical, food, processing, pharmaceutical, nuclear chemistry industry, agriculture, healthcare, environmental protection, state administration bodies, as well as in academic field. He can use his knowledge in the preparation/production and work with new chemicals, hazardous substances, in their identification and disposal.
He/she is a competent expert for measuring and analyzing emissions, pollution levels and evaluating the hazardous properties of waste.
He/she has a broad-spectrum scientific knowledge and a technical perspective on the use of this knowledge in industrial, medical and laboratory practice, as he/she has cross-sectional knowledge in the fields of chemistry and chemical technology with a focus on their application corresponding to the current state of knowledge.
