Career

The job market remains vibrant for computer science professionals. Our graduates find employment in ICT R&D, IT management and IT consulting, in settings that range from small companies to major multinationals. Many start their own business, go to work for government agencies or pursue a PhD. Depending on the specialization you choose, you may find a job as a security analyst, an ethical hacker, a job in a field related to data mining or machine learning, or as a software engineer.

Programme Structure

The two-year Master’s in Computer Science comprises 120 credits and is taught entirely in English. It features a clear international orientation. In accordance with your own specific interests, you will specialize in an area that is closely related to a field of practical application, such as healthcare, dependable systems or learning and knowledge management. 

The programme’s overall focus is on the development of ICT systems in their societal context, technological aspects and applications of embedded systems, and on the development process of sophisticated software systems.

  • Minimum required score (Grade C):

    180

    C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

Academic Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Information Technology or an equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of the following topics; at least 40 ECTS credits in Computer Science containing: Object Oriented Programming, Computer Organisation/Architecture, Operating Systems, Computer Networks, Algorithms and Data Structures.
  • Copy of diploma
  • Transcript of records and CGPA of at least 70% of the maximum score, or your country's equivalent    
  • English summary of thesis (BSc or MSc)
  • At least 20 EC's in Mathematics and Statistics (containing: Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Probability, etc.)
  • At least 15 EC's in Research Projects
  • Clear motivation of goals
  • Motivation letter

Funding

The University of Twente offers excellent students the possibility to enrol in UT master’s programmes with a scholarship. These scholarships vary from government grants to funding by organizations or private persons. In addition, faculties and the University of Twente Scholarship Foundation (UTS) offer a limited number of scholarships to excellent students.
