Overview
The Water Management for Climate Adaptation programme at Utrecht University provides you with knowledge and skills to become an academic water professional. While exploring both human and natural systems, you obtain fundamental knowledge about water availability, quality, and safety, and learn about cutting-edge water management approaches. For this you study global, regional, and local rules and regulations that guide the implementation of effective water management solutions.
Career:
After graduating you have plenty of job options in the non-academic field. With your technical skills and broad knowledge of water management you can start in various junior positions to kick start your career, but are quickly expected to move into senior roles. Potential organisations vary from consultancy firms, utility companies, NGOs to governmental organisations and provincial administrations. For example, become a Project Engineer Water Management and advise local governments and waterboards on hydrology and water related issues. Or work as a (international) researcher and get your hands dirty in the field; take samples, do lab work and write the most clear reports.
