Overview
The Master's programme Choreography and Performance at Justus Liebig University Giessen combines body and practice-oriented approaches with a critical and reflective approach to dance and performance. In the courses of your study, you will be trained to have a broader understanding of choreography.
Physical means of expression such as dance and movement are not only tested and reflected upon as artistic means, but are also discussed with regard to their relevance for contemporary aesthetic, social and political contexts.
Career
The professional areas of interest form a broad selection consisting of, for example, an independent artistic career (choreography, dance and movement performance art, video), dance dramaturgy, cultural conception and organisation of dance festivals or editorial, journalistic activities. Also the area of dance in schools/community dance/education projects, which is becoming more important, is no longer under the direction of dance educators but increasingly involves the artistic aspect and is thus being opened to graduates of this course.
