The university has its roots in the middle of Hessen and, like its partners, acts in a supraregional and international environment. The focus of our activities is a good education of students, research, transfer and further education.
Founded in 1607, Justus Liebig University Giessen attracts around 25,000 students with its diverse range of courses, particularly in the life sciences, which is unique in Germany: human and veterinary medicine, as well as agricultural, environmental, nutritional and food sciences. Three Clusters of Excellence make JLU one of the most successful universities in the Excellence Strategy.
