About

The Electrical Engineering programme offered by the University of Twente (UT)  teaches you how modern technology can be used to further enhance, accelerate or scale down electronics-based systems. It will provide you with skills and expertise that you can apply in nearly all fields of technology. You will be challenged to improve high-tech systems with an emphasis on themes such as sustainability, health and safety.

Research and Specialisation

The research focuses on many areas, ranging from microsystems, mechatronics and telecom, to integrated circuit design/architecture and biomedical applications. You can tailor a large part of the programme to suit your own personal interests (ranging from technical to managerial aspects).

The programme offers a wide variety of specializations. You will build your own future in line with your personal interests, whether you would like to be a researcher, a designer (developer of new products and services) or an organizer (manager of an engineering department or provider of consulting services).

Careers

The Master’s programme in Electrical Engineering provides you with the knowledge and skills you will need to be successful in almost any area of technology. It is an innovative engineering discipline in which you will develop new methods and technologies. 

Electrical engineers are highly employable, largely because their training encompasses a branch of science rather than focusing on a specific profession. You will be trained in development teams for all kinds of new technologies. Without electrical engineers there would be no cars, aircraft, mobile phones, tablets, PCs or TVs.

  • Minimum required score (Grade C):

    C1 Advanced is a Cambridge English Qualification. It reports on the Cambridge English Scale between 142 and 210. You will receive a separate score for each of the four skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and for Use of English. These five scores are averaged to give you an overall result for the exam. Universities and colleges may ask you to achieve a specific score, either overall or for a particular skill.

    Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.

Academic Requirements

Required knowledge

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related
  • Knowledge of the following topics: calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, probability, signals and systems, digital and analogue electronics, electromagnetic fields

The University of Twente offers excellent students the possibility to enrol in UT master’s programmes with a scholarship. These scholarships vary from government grants to funding by organizations or private persons. In addition, faculties and the University of Twente Scholarship Foundation (UTS) offer a limited number of scholarships to excellent students.
