Overview
The Dream European Master from Centrale Nantes trains students to tackle the current and future challenges of smart power systems in a new way.
Therefore, core knowledge from the fields of Power Systems, Smart Grids, Renewable Generation, Automatic Control and Power Electronics is combined to give the students the opportunity to acquire a global “system view” of the dynamics of next generation power systems.
DREAM aims to promote a more integrated way of thinking in order to prepare multidisciplinary specialists trained for the new jobs and challenges of future power systems.

The DREAM master's programme has been selected under the European Programmes of Excellence in 2021 through the Erasmus+ 2021-27 key action 2.
DREAM is a joint master's programme implemented and fully supported by 4 major European Higher Education Institutions (HEI):- Centrale Nantes, France
- Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain
- Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft, Germany
- National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest, Romania
Programme Structure
DREAM students will spend their first semester in France to acquire background in Power Systems and Automatic Control.
They will move for the second semester to Germany, Spain or Romania.
The third semester can be undertaken in any of the HEI partners, by choosing one of the following specialisms:- Smart grids dynamics and control - transmission/ distribution/ microgrids (France)
- Advanced wind turbine control, protection systems (Germany)
- Power electronics in power systems (Spain)
- Smart power systems (Romania)

General requirements
Open to students who already hold a first university degree with the equivalent of 180 ECTS credits (in the European system, or equivalent) after at least three years of studies, at Bachelor of Science level in one of the following fields:
- Power systems
- Smart Grids
- Renewable Generation
- Automatic control
Power Electronics
Applicants must be fluent in English, both written and spoken. An applicant whose native language is not English is required to pass a recognized international English test:
- TOEFL: CBT 220, ITP 550, IBT 80
- Cambridge B2 First Test: 173 or higher
- Cambridge C1 Advanced Test: 160 or higher
- IELTS: 6.5 or higher
- TOEIC: 800

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
Funding
Students from all over the world are eligible for an Erasmus+ Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) scholarship in this programme.
A Consortium scholarship shall be awarded by the consortium to students who did not obtain an Erasmus+ EMJM scholarship, but whose quality of application stood out. This scholarship will consist in a reduction from the total tuition fees.
