Overview
The Media and Refugee - Migration Flows programme offered at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) will provide opportunities to students to investigate the communication management of refugee/migration flows in order to promote a positive response to the ongoing tensions and crises created at national and cross-national level.
Key facts
- The graduation from the programme requires the successful completion of the semester courses, the mandatory participation in the Summer School on Lesvos Island and the successful completion of a master thesis. Additionally, students should participate in all educational activities, such as seminars, internship etc.
- The duration of the programme, which awards a Postgraduate Diploma, is two (2) academic semesters, without summer break. An extension may be requested with an application by the student to the Special Committee of the MSc, however the maximum permissible time for completion of studies is three (3) semesters.

General requirements
- For the specialization “Cultural mediators” students must be fluent in Arabic, Albanian, Bulgarian, Georgian, French, Farsi, Dari, Kurdish, Spanish, Portuguese, Lingala, Swahili, Bengali, Pashtun, Somalian, Ukrainian, Russian, or another common language in the origin countries where the main volume of refugees and migrants arriving in Europe come from, at the Foreign Language Teaching Centre of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, if they have no certified prior knowledge included in their CV.
- In case student are not fluent in one of these languages they will be required to take classes in them. Successful completion of courses in the foreign language is a requirement for obtaining the Master’s Degree.
