Overview
Students of the Chemistry program from Bogazici University are required to complete two of the Advanced Chemistry (CHEM 51X) courses offered. One elective course, from graduate courses offered by other departments, may be allowed with the permission of the graduate advisor.
Research areas
The research areas most active in the department are archeometry, bioanalytical, colloidal, computational, electro-analytical, and medicinal chemistry, nanomaterials, natural products, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, polymer science, and supramolecular chemistry.
The focal points of research within these areas are applications of computational chemistry in organic and coordination compounds, asymmetric synthesis, biomaterials, biomolecular simulations and enzymatic mechanisms, biosensors, dental materials, drug delivery, heavy metal toxicity, living polymerization, nano-photocatalysts, polymeric nanocomposites and polymers from vegetable oils, and vesicles and nanopatterning. Archaeometry studies currently focus on ancient metallurgy and evidence for earliest use of milk in ancient societies.
