Build your legal expertise on a strong foundation of integrated international and European law. This program is designed to give you the essential knowledge needed to navigate the complexities of global legal practice and prepares you for the challenges facing lawyers today. Upon graduation, you'll be awarded a Master's in Law (LLM) in International and European Law .
- This curriculum provides you with knowledge about European law and the international legal framework, which is essential for the lawyers of tomorrow. With this program, you will get the strong foundation needed to navigate the complexities of global legal practice.
You have the freedom to tailor your program to your interests and career goals by choosing one of two options leading to unique profiles:
1. Specialize in one of the three tracks:
Law and World-Ordering
Environmental Law and Justice
Human Rights and Human Security
2. Build your own broad program by choosing subjects in international or European law by taking courses from the different tracks.
- Integrated Year-Round Thesis: develop your thesis topic with continuous support from your supervisor and peers in a thesis circle. Throughout the year, five dedicated (lecture-free) thesis weeks are organized to ensure progress in developing and writing your thesis.
- Expert Faculty: Learn from highly qualified and enthusiastic academics who are deeply connected to international and EU legal practice. Their real-world expertise ensures you are confronted with the latest legal developments and insights.
Career prospects
This program prepares you to become a professional who is legally and analytically proficient at navigating international and European law. You will be aware of and be able to engage with international and European law entanglements in crucial spheres of policy, as well as international law firms, organizations, non-governmental organizations, diplomacy, international courts or tribunals, multinational enterprises and consultancies, think-tanks and in journalism.
