Overview
Decentralized Smart Energy Systems from University of Lorraine aims to educate top skilled engineers with multiphysics approaches, who will be able to design, size, optimize and operate decentralised smart energy systems, with skills and expertise in the mechanical, aeronautical, chemical and electrical engineering disciplines and a sufficient level of systemic overview, which enables analysing the complex interactions in energy systems,
Students at Decentralized Smart Energy Systems from University of Lorraine will:
- get a broad opening on the human and social sciences
- have a general understanding and a holistic view of the energy systems and finally working with specialists of other disciplines by addressing particularly some non-technical issues: impact in the territories, social acceptance, economical issues, new business models, the active role of the consumer/producer in the systems.
- get international network as well as a genuine European learning, an integrated multicultural and language experience.

General requirements
- 180-credit degree of bachelor in science, degree of bachelor in engineering, technical degree of bachelor in mechanical or aeronautical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, technical degree of bachelor in energy engineering where courses fluid mechanics, applied thermodynamics and heat transfer are required,
- Other corresponding technical or natural science degrees on the first level (180 credits) can also give eligibility but specific courses have to be included: applied thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, mathematics and numerical methods.

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.
Funding
This program i supported by the Erasmus Agency. There are two types of scholarship available:
Partial scholarships reducing the participation costs
Full EMJM scholarship (no participation costs and a monthly allowance of 1400 €/month).
On top of that, it is also possible to apply for an EFrench Eiffel Excellence scholarship. This application will be supported by UL. This scholarship provides a significant reduction of participation costs and a monthly allowance.
