Overview
In the initial phase of the Geodetic Engineering program at University of Bonn, modules are designed to close knowledge gaps. The program then offers three profiles for students to deepen their understanding of a specific area. The profiles reflect the research priorities of the geodetic institutes: Mobile Sensorics and Robotics, Geodetic Earth System Sciences and Data Analysis as well as Geodetic Information and Spatial Development.
This degree program conveys to students the skills and tools needed to recognize geodetic engineering problems, phrase research questions for those problems and solve them in projects. In the course of the program, students have the opportunity to take active part in research projects, which can also be an initial qualification for a doctorate. The program provides students with scientifically sound specialized knowledge and equips them with the skills and methods needed to work in the industrial sector, in research and at administrative authorities.
Possible lines of work:
Managerial positions in public surveying administrations (land registries, regional land survey offices), publicly appointed survey engineer, commercial engineering firms, companies involved with geoinformation, transportation, cartography, photogrammetry, power supply, etc., banking/real estate, construction, technical expert firms/planning offices, real estate departments of large companies, municipalities/ specialized administrations, aerospace, software development, academia (teaching/research at universities, research institutions, etc.)Programme Structure

A total of at least 48 credits from at least two of the following six research areas- Physical Geodesy, Space Geodesy, Geodynamics and Earth System Research,
- Data Analysis, Modeling and Scientific Computing in the context of Geoscience,
- Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, Computer Vision and Robotics,
- Geodetic Measurement Technology, Engineering Geodesy and Satellite Measurement Technology,
- Algorithmics, Spatial Databases, Geo-Information and Geo-Information Systems,
- Urban Development, Land Readjustment and Real estate Evaluation and Land Management.
