Overview
Completing the Transportation Design program at Pforzheim University will enable you to work immediately after graduation in the vehicle or automotive industry in a position of responsibility beyond your own design work. In contrast to graduates of the Bachelor course, the Master of Arts in Transportation Design fulfills the necessary requirements to structure a project team, to plan a design project and to supervise its execution.
Career paths
The majority of graduates of the program work in the design departments of vehicle manufacturers worldwide. In addition to the main focus on automobiles, they are successful in many areas of vehicle design such as public transport on roads and railways, aviation and yacht building. Several graduates of the program reached the position of design manager/chief designer in their companies.
The program maintains a close and familiar relationship with its graduates, creating space and opportunity for contact and communication between the already experienced and the future designers through various activities.
MATD: The program
The master's program is divided thematically into three main parts. The acquired knowledge of all subjects is basically applied to the current project work.
- in the module 'Professional Studies', theoretical knowledge specialized in and typical for vehicle design as well as automotive-typical representation techniques are taught.
- The module 'Automotive Exterior' contains a complete vehicle exterior design. As a study project in the sense of an examination document, the course participants create a 3D data model of their design and generate renderings from it.
- The module 'Automotive Interior' has basically the same sequence as the previous one, but with the higher complexity inherent to the subject. The knowledge necessary for the creation of an interior design is taught within the module.
