Overview
There is a revolution going on in language technology: the use of Chat GPT and other generative AI systems has grown tremendously in a short period of time, for instance by students. But there are many questions. How do they work? What can they do and what not? Are they dangerous for society? What are the ethical aspects of using these systems? In the specialisation Language and AI we are searching for the answers.
Automated systems are more and more part of our lives. What people often do not realize is that language is at the heart of these systems. This is why they are called Large Language Models. Understanding these models also means understanding how we use language. To prepare for the future, you need to have the knowledge and skills to use this technology.
In the Linguistics - Language and AI course at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam , you will explore these questions and more. You will learn to analyse the learnability of languages, describe languages and even combine language with artificial intelligence.
