Overview
The MSc Motion Analysis from University of Dundee covers a wide range of topics in the field of motion analysis, including clinical gait analysis, foot pressure analysis, clinical biomechanics, sports performance, ergonomics, rehabilitation, and animal locomotion. This course content will give you a strong understanding of the relationships between anatomy, biomechanics, and movement mechanics of human performance, and the clinical outcomes relating to these.
You'll start by learning the fundamentals of motion analysis. This includes essential anatomy, mathematics, and physics, as well as how to interpret and visualise motion analysis data.
You'll then cover motion measurement techniques, including electrogoniometry, accelerometry, photography, and optoelectronic techniques. You'll also learn about pressure, load, and physiological measurement systems and how to record, analyse, and interpret data relating to these.
Once you've covered all the module content, and have a strong understanding of how anatomy, biomechanics, and motion analysis integrate, you'll carry out research project in a relevant area of motion analysis allowing you to demonstrate and apply your skills and knowledge.
Careers
This course can prepare you for entry into a clinical academic career path as well as a range of opportunities in the public and private sector involving clinical treatment, sports and exercise. Some of our graduates have gone on to work as lecturers in universities, to work as biomedical engineers in technology companies, or to work in hospitals as professional or clinical workers.
You'll graduate with the ability to analyse the relationship between movements, anatomy, and biomechanics, assess patient gait in clinical practice, model the musculoskeletal system, assess musculoskeletal movement, and evaluate treatment options.
