Overview
The program
The two-year Chinese Law program at Shanghai Jiao Tong University is similar to the Master of Laws program offered to Chinese students and contains one year school curriculum and one year independent research and thesis writing. All of the LL.M. courses are taught in English and specifically tailored for international students.
The courses will be taught not only by our regular faculty but also experts from public and private practice. An academic advisor will be assigned to each student to supervise his/her research and LL.M. thesis writing. We encourage students to write publishable thesis.

General requirements
To be considered for admission to the LL.M. Program, an applicant must have a bachelor's degree. We particularly look for applicants with the following qualifications:
- Having earned a first law degree (J.D., LL.B. or the equivelent.);
- Being enrolled in a law or law-related program;
- Being qualified to practice law in a jurisdiction outside Mainland China.
- Official transcripts
- Degree Certificate and/or certificate of enrollment
- Two letters of recommendation
- Personal statement
- TOEFL or IELTS score for non-native speakers of English who did not receive their legal education entirely in the English language
- A copy of passport identification pages
