We live through uncertain times. Now more than ever it is time to think and act creatively. We need imaginations of how the world could be, and artist educators who develop new approaches through practice arts-based research who can make these changes a reality, and this International Master Artist Educator programme at the ArtEZ University of the Arts offers you the foundation you need.

In the  International Master Artist Educator course at the ArtEZ University of the Arts we promote the concept of the artisteducator as one identity. This simply means we see art as education and education as art. Therefore an iMAE graduate is not an art teacher or teacher of art, but an artisteducator who uses their practice as a vehicle to enable agency and social change.

We draw attention to the need to work creatively across international boundaries to enable new understandings of cultural differences and diversity. We celebrate the international in our student community, our teachers and in the work we do through our Site Specific Colleges.

The contemporary artisteducator must be an entrepreneur who is capable of building project plans that meet the needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders. Artisteducators are professionals who are able to manage both human and financial resources.

iMAE graduates will find work in the context of social practice and community arts. They get to be social and creative entrepreneurs, who will keep on influencing this growing field of practice. They create new models of praxis (combinations of practice and theories) that will lead to the production of new ground breaking projects.

They work in multiple settings and apply their work to and with international Non-Governmental Organisations, schools, colleges and community education programmes.
